Rachel, The Little A'le'Inn & Area 51

After visiting Roswell we had to make a stop at Area 51. Those of you who were X Files fans know that Area 51 is the secret government base where all the deep dark secrets abour extraterrestrials are hidden. ;)

We made our way to Rachel, Nevada, which is the closest town to Area 51. For about 30 cents you can buy a photocopied map leading you to an entrance to Area 51. Rachel is located on the Extraterrestrial Highway and is known for being the home of The Little A'le'Inn where you can have a burger and a beer while looking over the alien paraphernalia for sale. We bought a map, bought some alien stuff and headed out to Area 51. There isn't much else to do in a town of less than 100 people.

As we approached the entrance we noticed a strange thunderstorm raging over the mountains of Area 51. As we drove down the long gravel road we noted the headlights following us. As we pulled over at the warning signs the truck behind us continued on into the secret base. I think it freaked Wyatt out.

The signs warned of the use of deadly force being authorized and photography being prohibited. I lined the boys up, under umbrellas, and snapped a few pics. :)

We continued on that night until I was too tired to drive anymore. We ended up in Jackpot, Nevada where we slept in a casino/hotel.
